1.1: Salutations to You, O the giver of Refuge; (Salutations to You) O the Consort of Shiva; (Salutations to You) Who is Compassionate towards us,

1.2: Salutations to You, Who pervade the whole Universe (as the Conscious Shakti); (Salutations to You) Whose Form is the Universe Itself,

1.3: Salutations to You, Whose Lotus Feet is Adored by the whole World (either through Image or other forms of Shakti),

1.4: Salutations to You, Who make us Cross this World (of Samsara) (by the touch of Her Power and Conscious Form);

2.1: Salutations to You, Whose Essential Nature (Svarupa) is Meditated upon by the World (by the seekers of Liberation),

2.2: Salutations to You, Whose Divine Nature is revealed as Knowledge to the great Yogis (on whom She showers Her highest Grace),

2.3: Salutations to You, Salutations to You, (O Mother), (I Reflect on Your) Eternal Blissful Form (revealed to the Yogis),

2.4: Salutations to You, Who make us Cross this World (of Samsara) (by the touch of Her Power and Conscious Form);

अनाथस्य दीनस्य तृष्णातुरस्य

भयार्तस्य भीतस्य बद्धस्य जन्तोः ।

Anaathasya Diinasya Trssnna-[A]aturasya

Bhayaartasya Bhiitasya Baddhasya Jantoh |

Tvam-Ekaa Gatir-Devi Nistaara-Kartrii

Meaning:

(I Invoke the Power and Grace of Shakti in the form of Durga)

3.1: (O Mother) (You are the Refuge of those) having no Refuge; (You are the Refuge of those) depressed in Life (by various afflictions); (You are the Refuge of those) afflicted by (Spiritual) Thirst (to cross over this World) (of Samsara),

3.2: (You are the Refuge of those) distressed by (various lurking) Fears in Life; (You are the Refuge of those) greatly Frightened (by this Life); (You are the Refuge of those) bound (by various attachments in Life); (You are the Refuge of all) Living Beings,

3.3: You alone are the real Refuge, O Devi; You alone are the Power of Deliverance (from this Samsara).

3.4: Salutations to You, Who make us Cross this World (of Samsara) (by the touch of Her Power and Conscious Form);

अरण्ये रणे दारुणे शत्रुमध्ये

जले सङ्कटे राजगेहे प्रवाते ।

Arannye Ranne Daarunne Shatru-Madhye

Jale Sangkatte Raaja-Gehe Pravaate |

Tvam-Ekaa Gatir-Devi Nistaara Hetur

4.1: (O Mother) (You are the Protector) In the midst of Forest, (You are the Protector) In the midst of Battlefield, (You are the Protector) In the midst of Frightful Situations (of Life) and (You are the Protector) In the midst of Enemies,

4.2: (You are the Protector) In the midst of Water, (You are the Protector) In the midst of various Dangers (of Life), (You are the Protector) Inside the King's Palace and (You are the Protector) In the midst of Storm,

4.3: You Alone are the real Refuge, O Devi; You are the Cause of Deliverance (from the various Dangers of this Samsara),

4.4: Salutations to You, Who make us Cross this World (of Samsara) (by the touch of Her Power and Conscious Form);

अपारे महदुस्तरेऽत्यन्तघोरे

Apaare Maha-Dustare-[A]tyanta-Ghore

Vipat Saagare Majjataam Dehabhaajaam |

Tvam-Ekaa Gatir-Devi Nistaara-Naukaa

Meaning:

(I Invoke the Power and Grace of Shakti in the form of Durga)

5.1: (O Mother) (You are the Rescuer) In this Shoreless (Ocean of Samsara), which is very difficult to Cross and very Frightful,

5.2: Falling into which Ocean the Living Beings Sink (into its fathomless depth),

5.3: You Alone are the Rescuer, O Devi; You are the Rescuing Boat of Deliverance,

5.4: Salutations to You, Who make us Cross this World (of Samsara) (by the touch of Her Power and Conscious Form);

नमश्चण्डिके चण्डोर्दण्डलीला

समुत्खण्डिता खण्डलाशेषशत्रोः ।

6.1: Salutations to You, O Chandika, Who unleashed the terrible Play of Punishment on demons Chanda (and Munda in the battlefield),

6.2: Cutting (to Pieces) and leaving behind endless Pieces of Enemies (in the battlefield),

6.3: You alone are the Refuge, O Devi; You are the Destroyer of the multitude of Impediments (springing up like enemies in our lives),

6.4: Salutations to You, Who make us Cross this World (of Samsara) (by the touch of Her Power and Conscious Form);

O Mother Durga, (O Mother Shakti), Please Protect me (in this World) (of Samsara).

7.2: You assume Multiple Forms and Pervade the Whole World; You are essential Without Anger but fight with Passionate Anger and Firmness (Destroying the Various Enemies),

7.3: You are the Awakener of Ida, Pingala, and Sushumna Nadi; (You are the Awakener of Kundalini, O Devi),

7.4: Salutations to You, Who make us Cross this World (of Samsara) (by the touch of Her Power and Conscious Form);

8.1: Salutations to You, O Devi Durga, (Salutations to You) O the Consort of Shiva, (Salutations to You) O the One (Who encounters the Enemies) with a Loud Roar,

8.2: (Salutations to You) Whose Nature is to ever bestow all types of Siddhis (Accomplishments) to the Devotees,

8.3: (Salutations to You) Who is a manifestation of great Power and Goodness, and is like the Night of Destruction (for the Enemies) (who symbolise Ego and Adharma),

8.4: Salutations to You, Who make us Cross this World (of Samsara) (by the touch of Her Power and Conscious Form);

शरणमसि सुराणां सिद्धविद्याधराणां

मुनिमनुजपशूनां दस्युभिस्त्रासितानाम् ।

नृपतिगृहगतानां व्याधिभिः पीडितानां

त्वमसि शरणमेका देवि दुर्गे प्रसीद ॥९॥

Sharannam-Asi Suraannaam Siddha-Vidyaadharaannaam

Muni-Manuja-Pashuunaam Dasyubhis-Traasitaanaam |

Nrpati-Grha-Gataanaam Vyaadhibhih Piidditaanaam

Tvam-Asi Sharannam-Ekaa Devi Durge Prasiida ||9||


Meaning:

(I Invoke the Power and Grace of Shakti in the form of Durga)

9.1: (Salutations to You, O Devi) You are the Refuge of the Suras (Devas), (You are the Refuge of the) Siddhas and Vidyadharas,

9.2: (You are the Refuge of the) Munis (Ascetics), Manujas (Human Beings) and Pashus (Animals); (You are the Refuge of those) Terrorized by Dashyus (Robbers),

9.3: (You are the Refuge of those) sent (unjustly) to the Prison of Kings (i.e. unjustly Imprisoned); (You are the Refuge of those) Afflicted by various Diseases,

9.4: (You are) the only (true) Refuge, O Devi Durga; Please be Propitious towards us.


इदं स्तोत्रं मया प्रोक्तमापदुद्धारहेतुकम् ।

त्रिसन्ध्यमेकसन्ध्यं वा पठनाद्घोरसङ्कटात् ॥१०॥

Idam Stotram Mayaa Proktam-Aapad-Uddhaara-Hetukam |

Tri-Sandhyam-Eka-Sandhyam Vaa Patthanaad-Ghora-Sangkattaat ||10||


Meaning:

(I Invoke the Power and Grace of Shakti in the form of Durga)

10.1: (Maheshvara telling to Uma) This Stotra which is proclaimed by me for the purpose of delivering from Calamities,

10.2: By reciting (this Stotra) during the three junctures of the Day (Sandhyas) (Morning, Noon and Evening) or (even) during one juncture (Sandhya), (one gets liberated) from great Dangers.


मुच्यते नात्र सन्देहो भुवि स्वर्गे रसातले ।

सर्वं वा श्लोकमेकं वा यः पठेद्भक्तिमान् सदा ॥११॥

Mucyate Na-Atra Sandeho Bhuvi Svarge Rasaatale |

Sarvam Vaa Shlokam-Ekam Vaa Yah Patthed-Bhaktimaan Sadaa ||11||


Meaning:

(I Invoke the Power and Grace of Shakti in the form of Durga)

11.1: One gets liberated (from great Dangers) on Earth, in Heaven or in Hell; there is no doubt in this,

11.2: By reciting the full Stotra or even one Sloka (of the Stotra) and ever (meditating on the Devi), the Devotee (gets liberated from Dangers).


स सर्वं दुष्कृतं त्यक्त्वा प्राप्नोति परमं पदम् ।

पठनादस्य देवेशि किं न सिद्ध्यति भूतले ॥१२॥

Sa Sarvam Dusskrtam Tyaktvaa Praapnoti Paramam Padam |

Patthanaad-Asya Deveshi Kim Na Siddhyati Bhuutale ||12||


Meaning:

(I Invoke the Power and Grace of Shakti in the form of Durga)

12.1: (Moreover) He (or She) having abandoned all Sinful tendencies (of the mind), obtains the Supreme Feet (of the Devi),

12.2: By reciting this Stotra, O Deveshi, what not is Accomplished on Earth?


स्तवराजमिदं देवि संक्षेपात्कथितं मया ॥१३॥

Stava-Raajam-Idam Devi Samkssepaat-Kathitam Mayaa ||13||


Meaning:

(I Invoke the Power and Grace of Shakti in the form of Durga)

13.1: This king of Stavas (Hymn of Eulogy) (such is whose glory), O Devi, is briefly narrated by me here (which brings great blessings in the life of the Devotees).


॥ इति श्रीसिद्धेश्वरीतन्त्रे उमामहेश्वरसंवादे श्रीदुर्गापदुद्धारस्तोत्रं सम्पूर्णम् ॥
